Our client is a high-growth, YC-funded startup in San Francisco building a definitive platform to redefine how engineering teams understand and improve their work. By leveraging modern AI, the organization provides an accurate and actionable view of productivity, impact, and collaboration, moving beyond traditional vanity metrics.


Currently trusted by over 150 customers and experiencing consistent double-digit month-over-month revenue growth, the company has secured a $4.2M seed round from premier venture capital firms. Our client is seeking an exceptional Forward Deployed Engineering Manager to join the core team. This individual will serve as a bridge between the customer and the product, ensuring that users derive maximum value from the platform while directly influencing the company's roadmap and strategy.


Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Lifecycle Management: Own the post-sale customer relationship, managing everything from initial onboarding and account management to ongoing technical support.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Act as a first responder for incoming support tickets, triaging issues, and diagnosing technical problems across internal systems and cloud infrastructure (GCP).
  • Engineering Collaboration: Reproduce bugs, create actionable reports for the engineering team, and submit small pull requests for documentation updates, configuration changes, or simple fixes.
  • Product Strategy: Partner closely with the founders, engineering, and product teams to translate customer feedback into actionable roadmap items.
  • Documentation: Maintain and update support documentation to ensure customer self-service capabilities and internal knowledge sharing remain current.



Requirements

  • Management Experience: Proven track record in a previous Product Management or Engineering Management role.
  • Technical Foundation: A strong engineering background (Software, DevOps, or similar) with robust technical problem-solving skills.
  • Code Proficiency: Ability to read and write code, with the confidence to make contributions and simple PRs within GitHub.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly when translating complex technical issues for different stakeholders.
  • Client-Facing Aptitude: A strong desire to engage directly with customers and the ability to maintain composure in high-pressure or intense situations.
  • Operational Mindset: A self-starter profile that thrives in a fast-paced, high-intensity startup environment.

  • Experience working with developer tools or B2B SaaS products.
  • Previous professional background in technical support or solutions engineering.

Interview Process

  1. Initial Screen: 15-minute introductory call.
  2. Technical Deep-Dive: One-hour technical interview with the CTO.
  3. Executive Interview: One-hour on-site interview with the CEO, including a team lunch.
  4. Due Diligence: Two professional reference calls.
  5. Practical Evaluation: 3-5 day paid work trial to ensure mutual alignment.
