On behalf of our client, a professional legal firm located in Parsippany, NJ, we are seeking a seasoned Litigation Paralegal for a direct-hire position. This role is designed for a mid-level professional (5–8 years of experience) who is a "case-thinker"—someone who anticipates the next steps in the litigation process and operates with a high degree of independence.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in defense-side litigation and must possess a deep understanding of the "biller side" of the industry, specifically the ability to craft professional narratives that support time spent on case tasks. In this role, you will be responsible for moving cases forward through the entire litigation lifecycle. You will handle a high volume of documents and work closely with attorneys to ensure all discovery and pleadings are managed with precision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Substantive Drafting: Independently draft pleadings, including complaints, motions, and comprehensive discovery requests/responses.
• Case Management: Take ownership of case files; identify and execute the "next steps" in litigation without constant oversight.
• Narrative Billing: Maintain meticulous billing records, crafting descriptive narratives that accurately reflect the value of the work performed.
• Discovery & Review: Conduct thorough discovery requests, background reviews, and manage large-scale document production.
• Calendar Management: Proactively manage attorney calendars and track all court deadlines and appearances.

Requirements

• Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal.
• Defense Focus: A strong background in defense-side litigation. Personal injury experience is welcome, provided it was on the defense/billing side.
• Billing Proficiency: Must understand the "biller side" and be able to provide detailed narratives for all billable time.
• Technical Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Education: Associate degree required.
• Professional Attributes: Ability to work independently while remaining a collaborative team member.
• Strict Exclusions: Experience primarily in Plaintiff work, Family Law, Real Estate, or Employment Law is not a fit for this specific client need.
