Our client is a venture-backed, high-growth organization (YC W24) that has raised over $35M to pioneer the development of autonomous "AI employees." Unlike traditional chatbots or copilots, our client builds digital workers capable of performing end-to-end professional roles, such as automated business development, lead research, and objection handling. Currently at $8M+ ARR and scaling rapidly, the organization is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to serve as the critical bridge between their advanced AI technology and their most strategic enterprise customers.

The Forward Deployed Engineer operates at the intersection of engineering, consulting, and advisory. This individual will partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Product teams to ensure that the platform is seamlessly integrated into customer environments to drive measurable ROI. This is a foundational role within a new function directly overseen by the CEO, requiring a blend of deep technical proficiency and high-level strategic communication. This position is based on-site in New York City and requires frequent travel (up to 50%) to customer sites for discovery, scoping, and onboarding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Scoping: Evaluate customer Go-To-Market (GTM) stacks to determine integration points, workflow optimizations, and legacy tool replacements.
  • Full-Stack Implementation: Develop customer-specific features and integrations within a TypeScript full-stack codebase.
  • Technical Advisory: Join sales calls to provide technical credibility, helping to navigate complex technical hurdles and close enterprise-level deals.
  • Lifecycle Management: Manage the end-to-end implementation process, maintaining a hands-on presence from pre-sales through to account expansion.
  • Cross-Functional Feedback: Translate on-the-ground customer insights into actionable feedback for the Product and Engineering teams to influence the future roadmap.
  • On-site Engagement: Travel to customer offices for in-person discovery sessions and high-touch onboarding experiences.

Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Field Engineer, or Full-Stack Engineer.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong, hands-on experience with TypeScript across the stack (Node.js, React, or similar frameworks).
  • Domain Expertise: Ideally possess experience integrating with CRMs and sales technology such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or Outreach.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex technical systems for non-technical stakeholders while maintaining the ability to "speak the same language" as internal engineers.
  • Stakeholder Management: Comfortable leading technical discussions with RevOps leaders, sales executives, and engineering heads.
  • Travel Readiness: Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time to meet with customers across various locations.
  • Problem-Solving: A high degree of comfort with ambiguity and the ability to architect and ship solutions rapidly in a fast-paced environment.

Benefits

  • Impactful Ownership: Opportunity to act with a "founder mindset" in a high-growth environment where every decision directly affects the customer experience.
  • Professional Growth: Join a category-defining company at a pivotal moment of scaling, working on hardware-level engineering problems with massive surface area.
  • Incentivized Excellence: Work within a culture that prioritizes high standards, direct communication, and "winning team energy."
  • Strategic Exposure: Report directly to the CEO in a newly formed function that is core to the company's enterprise expansion strategy.

Interview Process

The client maintains a streamlined and transparent interview process:

  1. Recruiter Screening: An initial conversation to discuss background and role alignment.
  2. Leadership Interview: A 15-minute introductory session with the CEO.
  3. Technical Evaluation: A 60-minute technical interview with the engineering team.
  4. Culture & Values Interview: A final 30-minute interview with the CEO to ensure alignment with the organization's core values.
