Compensation: $175K - $200K

We are hiring on behalf of our client, an elite, high-growth, venture-backed financial technology organization who is seeking a high-agency Chief of Staff (Product & Engineering). Backed by top-tier Web3 and technology venture capital firms, our client is rebuilding the foundational infrastructure of global finance to be faster, safer, and fully on-chain.

This role is designed for a strategic, execution-focused operator who thrives on turning high-level market context and loose ideas into concrete product decisions, structured plans, and company-wide commitments. Sitting at the intersection of product, engineering, design, and business strategy, the Chief of Staff will act as the trusted right hand to the co-founder & Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

This is an in-office (hybrid, 3–5 days per week) position based in Austin, Texas. It offers a rare, front-row seat to scaling a transformative startup, serving as an exceptional launchpad for a future founder or technology executive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Executive Partnership: Serve as the primary strategic partner and right hand to the CTO, participating in critical internal and external meetings, absorbing complex context, brainstorming decisions, and translating outcomes into immediate action plans.
  • Operational Rhythm & Project Management: Translate the high-level roadmap into a highly functional operating rhythm. Break down complex initiatives into clear workstreams, milestones, and ownership structures across engineering, product, design, and specialized functions (including security, privacy, legal, business development, and marketing).
  • Task Tracking Ownership: Own and manage the engineering team's task management and issue-tracking software (Linear), ensuring clear alignment on the critical development path.
  • Ambiguity Resolution: Take complete ownership of high-priority, ambiguous initiatives that lack a natural department owner. Conduct research, synthesize findings, and deliver sharp, high-quality first-pass frameworks.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as a high-EQ connective tissue across the organization, reading client and market needs, anticipating gaps, and maintaining seamless alignment between leadership and the execution teams.

Requirements

  • Location: Ability to work on-site in a hybrid capacity (3–5 days per week) in Austin, Texas.
  • Proven Track Record: Solid experience running the engine of a fast-moving startup team—ideally as a Chief of Staff, Operations Leader, Founder’s Associate, or startup COO.
  • Strong Program/Project Management: Proven experience translating strategy into structured, executable plans with clear milestones and owners.
  • High Emotional Intelligence (EQ): Exceptional interpersonal skills with an intuitive ability to read client meetings, anticipate team needs, and coordinate across diverse, high-performing teams.
  • Proactive & Low-Ego Mindset: Highly ambitious and capable of independent leadership, yet deeply energized by supporting the broader team's success behind the scenes.
  • Adaptable in Fast-Paced Environments: Highly organized and comfortable managing shifting, complex, and sometimes competing inputs from multiple stakeholders without dropping deliverables.
  • Valued Pluses (Not Required): Prior experience in product management, fintech, financial markets, or blockchain/Web3 ecosystems is highly beneficial but not mandatory.

Benefits

  • Direct Mentorship: Opportunity to work directly alongside the co-founder & CTO, as well as an elite team of industry veterans from leading institutions across traditional finance, Web3, and major technology platforms.
  • Competitive Compensation: A strong package consisting of base salary and equity, tailored to prior experience and qualifications.
  • Comprehensive Coverage: Premium medical, dental, and vision healthcare plans.
  • Retirement Savings: 401(k) plan.
  • Time Off: Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) policy and more.

Interview Process

  1. Recruiter / HR Screening Call (30 Minutes): Initial conversation focused on alignment with the role, early-stage startup experience, and core values.
  2. Executive Interview (30 Minutes): Interview focusing on professional experience, intellectual capabilities, and working/communication styles.
  3. Technical Evaluation: A deeper, hands-on evaluation relevant to project delivery and technical management. Detailed instructions will be provided prior to this stage.
  4. Leadership & Collaborative Review (30 Minutes): Joint interview with the CEO and the Managing Director of Business Development & Finance to assess collaborative dynamics and cross-functional fit.
  5. Final Alignment Interview (30 Minutes): Final review and alignment discussion prior to the formal offer stage.
