Our client is a pioneering financial technology firm at the intersection of traditional finance and digital assets. To support their commitment to regulatory excellence and financial integrity, they are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented AML Transaction Monitoring Specialist.
This critical role leads the management of the organization’s anti-money laundering (AML) transaction monitoring program. The Specialist ensures comprehensive compliance with AML, Anti-Terrorist Financing (ATF), sanctions, and other global regulatory requirements. The primary focus is the identification of suspicious activity across both fiat and digital asset transaction flows. This position requires a sophisticated understanding of financial crime investigations, blockchain forensics, and precise regulatory reporting standards.
Key Responsibilities

Investigation Management: Lead the review and investigation of transaction monitoring alerts; ensure appropriate decision-making and maintain rigorous documentation to support all investigation findings.

Regulatory Filing: Draft and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) with the appropriate regulatory bodies in accordance with statutory timelines.

Reporting & Metrics: Produce and maintain key surveillance reporting metrics for senior management to provide oversight of program health.

Audit & Exam Support: Participate in and respond to internal audits, regulatory examinations, and risk assessments specifically related to the transaction monitoring program.

Standards & Procedures: Establish and maintain robust procedures, investigative standards, and escalation guidelines to ensure consistency across the compliance function.

System Optimization: Perform continuous testing, tuning, and calibration of monitoring rules, thresholds, and parameters to optimize detection performance and reduce false positives.

Blockchain Forensics: Conduct holistic network monitoring of digital asset flows using blockchain forensic tools to identify suspicious wallet behavior and network exposure.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal stakeholders to enhance the transaction monitoring system, addressing issues with alert quality and workflow automation.
Requirements

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field.

Professional Experience: 5–7+ years of experience in BSA/AML compliance and financial crimes.

Industry Expertise: Prior experience performing transaction monitoring investigations within a regulated financial institution or a high-growth fintech environment.

Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of U.S. and global AML regulations, sanctions compliance, and Customer Due Diligence/Enhanced Due Diligence (CDD/EDD) requirements.

Certifications: ACAMS, CFCS, or similar industry-recognized professional certifications are required.

Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with blockchain analytic tools, case management platforms, and the performance of model validations.
