Our client is hiring a Principal Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and scaling of their core backend systems. This is a high-impact, strategic role where you will own mission-critical projects end-to-end, set the technical direction for major initiatives, and ensure our platform remains fast, resilient, and highly secure. This role extends beyond coding; you will be instrumental in making key architectural decisions, driving engineering standards, and mentoring senior engineers across the organization.

The Principal Software Engineer will lead the technical strategy and execution for the most critical components of their financial infrastructure platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership: Lead the design and development of highly scalable, secure backend services and APIs that support high-stakes financial workflows.
• Architecture Ownership: Define and evolve the architecture for core systems, including databases, microservices, and external integrations, ensuring long-term resilience and performance.
• Project Execution: Own and drive mission-critical projects from initial requirements gathering through production deployment and subsequent iteration.
• Performance & Reliability: Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance and reliability challenges at massive scale, ensuring system stability under heavy load.
• Engineering Excellence: Drive significant improvements to CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and overall engineering processes across multiple teams.
• Strategic Alignment: Collaborate directly with product and leadership teams to shape roadmap priorities and align technical execution with long-term company strategy.
• Mentorship: Mentor senior engineers, promote best practices, and represent the company in technical discussions with external partners and clients.

Technical Expertise:

• Experience: 10+ years of backend software engineering experience, with a proven history of technical leadership in a regulated environment like fintech or blockchain infrastructure.
• Languages: Mastery of TypeScript plus expertise in one or more systems languages (e.g., Rust, Go, or C++).
• Platform Building: Proven track record building and scaling robust APIs, infrastructure, and developer platforms used by large organizations.
• Data & Cloud: Deep expertise with distributed databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, NoSQL) and experience leveraging public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS).
• Architecture: Strong knowledge of microservices architecture, modern CI/CD practices, comprehensive observability, and the Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SSDLC).
• Security: Familiarity with applied cryptography, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and designing secure, resilient backend architectures.
